The first easy opportunity to see FLYING SCOTSMAN running on the main line for some time occurred on Saturday 10th June 2023 when it worked “The Cheshireman” railtour for the Railway Touring Company throughout between London Euston and Chester and return. As it turned out I photographed the train as it passed through just two locations. Satisfactory, but not much variation; it was however travelling in opposite directions on each occasion. Initially, I was undecided between Scotsman and the double headed Castles. It was mainly the weather that looked very poor in the south-west that made my decision and also, I am not keen on double headed express passenger locomotives. Black fives yes but not Castles; Class 14P sounds daft to me!
