I believe this photograph of 66 152 explains why I often come to Culham. The old station is one of very few that remain in a condition that is almost unchanged from the original design of I.K. Brunel. It is impossible to know what the old master would have thought about the American designed diesel electric locomotive and the enormous long train behind it. I think he would have been impressed. These American locomotives are powered by two-stroke engines but they never, or very rarely, emit large quantities of smoke. Please compare that with British designs such as the Deltics and the Co-Bos.
