There was no main-line steam on Saturday 1st September 2018 and the GCR was offering only the least enterprising selection of locomotives so I looked around and decided to visit The Nene Valley Railway for a change. 60009 UNION OF SOUTH AFRICA and 34081 92 SQUADRON were scheduled to operate the service but I declined the prize attraction of that pair double heading on the last train of the day.
