44871, one of a later batch of Stanier Class 5MT 4-6-0s built at Crewe in 1945, was about to enter the down platform at Atherstone on 20th November 2021 with "The Cheshireman" excursion. It is a shame that it has now become regular practice for the locomotive to carry a headboard announcing the tour operator, in this case "Railway Touring Company", but they cannot be blamed for seeking maximum publicity.
