Many would not have visited the GCR on Sunday 23rd January 2022 because the weather forecast was for very dull conditions all day and a limited timetable of six trains only, including the diner, using the blue DMU and a north facing steam locomotive. I had a really enjoyable day out even though all the details outlined above proved to be absolutely correct. There is something special to me about photographs taken in dull conditions; so much detail becomes visible that is lost in deep shadows and bright highlights.
