As the clock approached 16:00 the speculation between the lineside photographers began to build up. Would the last train of the day be hauled as timetabled by 46521 piloting 6990 or would we see 46521 ahead of 92214 or might it simply be 92214 working alone? We waited and waited as the minutes ticked by and nobody would believe the pessimist, yours truly, that the delay was caused by the need for 46521 to take water, as its tender does not hold sufficient for four round trips, and it was the cheapest way to run the train; i.e. smallest loco single headed. Twenty five minutes late the train departed Loughborough with 46521 working alone - what an anti-climax!
