Two White Rose excursions ran to York on Saturday 10th December 2016. The train from Tyseley, hauled by 5043 EARL OF MOUNT EDGCUMBE, seemed trouble free but deviated from the timetable in a mildly irritating manner resulting in a couple of missed photo opportunities. That from Kings Cross, hauled by 46233 DUCHESS OF SUTHERLAND, was an operational disaster with departure over an hour late, further time loss of about an hour and a half, a change of route and a final dash to York to recover about half an hour of lost time. The return journey, which should have commenced before sunset was about 90 minutes late. How much longer will this kind of service be allowed to continue.
