On Saturday 5th July 2014 a special train named “The Border Raider” ran from London Euston to Carlisle and back with steam haulage from Crewe to Carlisle northbound and as far as Preston on the return leg. The steam locomotive involved was A1 Class 8P 4-6-2 60163 TORNADO. The up train stopped to take water at Oxenholme and was photographed accelerating from that stop on the approach to the site of the former station at Milnthorpe.
