It is said “You wait for ages for something to turn up then two come along at once”. Well, that certainly occurred on Saturday 16th November 2024 with trains named “The White Rose”. Saphos ran an excursion steam hauled from Peterborough to York hauled by A4 ‘Sir Nigel Gresley’ and Railway Touring Company promoted a London Kings Cross to York train hauled by Black Five 44871. Times were quite difficult to manage but I photographed both trains at planned locations and snatched a couple of shots when one train was slightly early. The return journeys were in the dark so not worth attempting photographs. It was not the most successful day but it was enjoyable.
