"The Christmas White Rose" on Thursday 23rd November 2017 was subject to several changes well before the tour commenced. Departure venue shifted from Kings Cross to Ealing Broadway. Motive power changed from 46233 DUCHESS OF SUTHERLAND to 46100 ROYAL SCOT on the outward journey to York and from 60009 UNION OF SOUTH AFRICA to diesel haulage for the evening return. The sunlight was fierce, low and bright from straight behind the train approaching Retford but somewhat better at Botany Bay level crossing.
