The relaxation of Covid-19 rules that came into force from Monday 17th May 2021 presented an opportunity for main-line steam hauled charters to resume. The first train for fare paying passengers over the Settle and Carlisle line in 2021 was WCRC "The Pendle Dalesman" on Tuesday 18th May. It broke one of my rules in that the locomotive was not announced before the train ran but times were available and any of the three nominated locomotives would be acceptable for this never to be repeated occasion. 35018 BRITISH INDIA LINE was the least appropriate alternative but it was turned out well and ran satisfactorily despite losing significant time on the outward run. All things considered it was very good to be back!
