"The Winter Cumbrian Coast Express" on Saturday 4th March 2017 was another example of a late change in motive power that was unadvertised before the train had departed. 45699 GALATEA replaced 46115 SCOTS GUARDSMAN. Not surprising as the former had missed out on a run to Holyhead when the electric had failed at Willesden on 1st March. Unfortunately I missed the northbound run due to traffic delays in Stoke-on-Trent and then on the M6 with upgrading to "Smart Motorway". Despite deteriorating weather the southbound section was worth recording.
