The East-Midlands was gripped in a severe cold spell at the beginning of January 2018 which combined with an unexpected bout of 'man flu' made it unwise to spend too long by the line-side. These issues combined with the customary poor timetable led to me spending only just over two hours at the railway over the weekend of 6th-7th January. The sunshine was brilliant however - rather too strong when creating inevitable deep shadows.
