"The Cumbrian Mountain Express" on Saturday 12th May 2018 looked as though it would suffer from all the faults and problems that frequently afflict "West Coast Railway" operations. The very late announcement of a locomotive change is the norm rather than the exception from this operator, but cows on the line can hardly be regarded as their fault. Late running when heading north was inevitable and an on time departure from Carlisle was impossible. Then the meteoric recovery of time began. 20 min late leaving Carlisle was transformmed into passing Garsdale 20 min early! The large water capacity of the tender enabled the Appleby water stop to be eliminated but the running was superb. After that the rest of the job was easy.

Very nice set. Like the shots at Scout Green, with the views of where the train has come from, to get there.
