"The Last Hurrah" Gala at the GCR began on Saturday 16th November 2019. The weather forecast was for a predominantly cold, dry day with little chance of sun. With six steam locomotives, a diesel locomotive and a two car DMU all from the home fleet there was ample scope for a wide variety of passenger and freight trains. Trains ran to time in the morning but time-keeping lapsed in the afternoon probably due to crews insisting on taking water when running round at Loughborough.
