The weather on Sunday 23rd April was in complete contrast to that on Saturday 22nd April 2023. Dull throughout and threatening rain for much of the time, I felt fortunate to continue taking photographs well into the afternoon. It was unexpected but a pleasant surprise to find that repairs had been completed successfully on ‘Peak’ D123 to enable it to complete its scheduled trains. Clayton Type 1 D8568 continued its reliable performance throughout the time I was visiting the railway. I wonder why BR in the 1960s couldn’t make them work reliably?
