"The White Rose" on Saturday 27th July 2019 was a new venture in that the train ran from Dorridge to York and return under the auspices of Vintage Trains. After the highest recorded July temperatures in modern times the weather forecast was truly awful. I saw the train approaching Harlaston Bridge, just north of Tamworth, in quite heavy rain. The last time I went there was for FLYING SCOTSMAN when I witnessed the worst trespassing I have ever seen. On this occasion I had the place to myself! I left for the GWSR Diesel Gala where the Friday night weather forecast gave dry with sunny periods. It rained throughout the six hours I was there!
