On Sunday 8th June 2025, “The Shakespeare Express” originated at Derby. These more distant starting points give increase variety in photographs compared with the regular two return trips between Birmingham and Stratford-upon-Avon. I went first to Harlaston and chose the occupation bridge instead of the main road for variety. The train was hauled by 7029 CLUN CASTLE which, as usual, put up an excellent show although it was accompanied by diesel electric Class 37 240 probably as a precaution against fire-risk and to assist in turning the entire train by reversal at Hatton on the first outward run. It was an excellent day out with good time-keeping and not very much rain.
