It was difficult to decide on Saturday 19th December 2020 whether to photograph a Saphos Trains main line excursion running from Crewe to York or to visit the GCR for another round of Santa Specials. It was the later that won out as Covid-19 made catering arrangements in York difficult to predict and McArthurGlen Designer Village could be packed by socially non-distancing frantic last minute shoppers. All things considered the GCR Santa Specials were the tranquil alternative.
