Saturday 4th February 2023 was transformation in the level of activity at the GCR following the very busy Winter Steam Gala over the previous weekend. With only one steam locomotive and a diesel multiple unit in operation there was plenty of time between trains. On the Saturday the DMU was booked for three return runs with steam going out and back twice. I decided to do some work from home in the morning and just cover both trains twice. It came as a surprise to find the blue DMU in operation as the railway’s on-line publicity showed the green unit. The 8F was the steam locomotive as expected. The weather was cloudy, bright so caused no major photographic problems.
