"The Border Raider" on Saturday 13th April 2019 was one of three steam specials running that day in North-West England. The outward run was apparently uneventful until north of Appleby when early running began resulting in a very early arrival in Carlisle. Duncowfold was a case of leap out of the car, push the button and hope for the best. I managed only one location on the southbound leg, passing Yealand Redmayne, but enjoyed parallel running for much of the way between Scorton and Brock with me doing 70 mph on the M6 and Tornado running close to 75 mph on the West Coast mainline.
