When I heard that 92134, 34072 and 3809 would be visiting the GCR in the early months of 2026 I thought they could join resident standard Class 5 73156 for a S&D event. Admittedly, I had added a leading 5 to 3809 promoting it to a Fowler 7F 2-8-0! I didn’t recall the final date when passenger trains ran on the S&D was March 7th 1966 thus allowing a 60th year Anniversary celebration. Val hasn’t reminded me about diamonds yet, but there’s 4 more years to go so plenty of time for that. All went according to plan except for the final proposed double header which ran with just 34072. I had heard that 73156 sounded very rough when working an earlier train.
