Saturday 16th December 2023 was quite a good day to watch and photograph the GCR Santa Train programme. Three steam locomotives were involved in a fairly full timetable including the lunch time dining car train as well as the usual children’s trips. Interestingly the Modified Hall had reverted to its proper name and number as 6990 WITHERSLACK HALL after its brief interval masquerading as 6988 SWITHLAND HALL. The 9F had been turned to face north again, probably in connection with Charter work but remained with its correct number 92214 on this date. I started as soon as possible but an early finish was required due to Winter sunset times and deteriorating weather conditions after lunch. It was pouring with rain by the time I reached home.
