Sunday 27th October was the first day in 2024 after the UK returned to GMT. For the second time in 2024 Vintage Trains operated their “Shakespeare Express” excursion starting and terminating at Derby. Again, the operation involved interesting variations in that the outward journey was along the WR main line through Dorridge with reversal at Hatton and the train returned down the North Warwickshire line through Henley-in-Arden and Shirley. On this date the train was booked for haulage by BR(LMR) double chimney fitted Stanier Jubilee Class 6P 4-6-0 45596 BAHAMAS. It was good to see this locomotive back on a main line excursion making a change from the regular Tyseley Castles, 7029 CLUN CASTLE and 5043 EARL OF MOUNT EDGCUMBE.
