Sunday 3rd April 2016 was a reasonably bright Spring day for the first weekend of the GCR's summer timetable. All went well during the morning but a diesel failure on the 13:00 ex-Loughborough resulted in a long period of late running and uncertainty. The eventual recovery to effectively right time running was a tribute to the crews and the railway's double track infra-structure.
