My visit to the GCR Last Hurrah Gala on Sunday 21st November 2021 was really a day in two halves with camera problems thrown in to complicate the issues. In the morning there was a clear blue sky with heavy shadows in the cutting past Charnwood Water on the approach to the A6 road bridge. In the afternoon heavy cloud appeared from the north which threatened rain but hardly any fell. Camera problems arose in the late morning when the sun was at its brightest and I had overexposure which, at its worst, amounted to six stops! There was some late running in the morning that ran through the day and then, in the afternoon, trains ran out of sequence to try to maintain the passenger services. All in all however it was a good Gala with the GCR doing its best to deliver a highly entertaining show.
