My visit to the GWSR on Saturday 16th March 2024 was brief and in truth little more than a convenient lunch break. I knew from the timetable that I could expect only one locomotive in steam and a DMU. That information is useful but insufficient to form a plan. The train on the main line had run significantly late so the only sensible option was to head to the Hailes Abbey road overbridge and see what passed, which way it faced and how the weather seemed to be developing. The photographs are the best way to expand the story.
