The 2025 Last Hurrah event took place on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th November. Weather forecasts for both days were poor but Sunday promised to be dull but mainly dry whereas Saturday was equally dull but mainly wet. So, Sunday it had to be and it was undoubtedly the best choice although I missed out on 6990 being turned to face south early on Saturday. I should probably not have set out early enough to photograph the double-header that departed Loughborough at 09:10 anyway; I just thought it would be rather silly. The Last Hurrah was a home based steam event but it featured two visiting diesels, turned out in 1960s green livery that created a very favourable impression. Both Birmingham RC&W D5370 and Beyer Peacock Hymek D7018 have genuine connections with the East Midlands in the 1960s. It was overall a very enjoyable event.
