My first visit to the GCR in 2024 was on Sunday 7th January. At this time of year, the railway operates a very limited timetable with only five round trips; three worked by steam and two by diesel multiple unit. I expected that the railway would employ the smallest locomotive to minimise cost. How wrong could I be? The Standard 9F is by far the largest and most expensive to run but was a real treat as it had been renumbered as 92000 for use during a TLE charter. It was a real bonus for me and I took many more photographs than I should have done.
