On Saturday 8th December 2018 there was a plethora of main-line steam hauled trains but they were all scheduled to run in poor weather with strong wind and heavy rain. The Great Central, in contrast, had a reasonable forecast; at least until mid afternoon. So more of the same steam on the Santa Trains but a variation in diesel traction which always plays a major part in Santa Special haulage.
