The 11:05 train from Loughborough to Leicester North was approaching the bridge that carries Rushey Lane over the line on Sunday 25th July 2021. The train was the usual 3-car Metro-Cammell formation with DMBS 51427 leading TRSBL 59575 and DMCL M50321. If you look closely to the right of the train you can see one of the most important men on the GCR. He walks the line from Leicester North to Loughborough every weekend in all weathers picking up litter that careless, thoughtless, passengers throw from the trains. He usually gets out of shot but on this occasion the DMU gave no advanced audible warning.
