On a hot summers day such as 27th June 2015 a large super-heated locomotive such as Merchant Navy Class 8P 4-6-2 35028 CLAN LINE shows neither exhaust steam nor smoke even when climbing a 1 in 99 gradient. The locomotive was approaching the summit of the line above Gomshall Station.
