With no main-line steam on the weekend of October 24-25th 2020 thoughts turned to the preserved railways. But could I face the same steam and diesel combination on the GCR for two days running? No! An alternative location was essential and the honour fell upon the Battlefield Line. A GWR small prairie tank doing four return trips between 11:00 and 16:30 seemed very good. The weather forecast was poor but it was close to home so I could retreat if necessary. In the end I got rather wet but enjoyed my visit.
