After the disappointment of having to run “The Cheshireman” excursion diesel hauled throughout on Saturday 19th March 2022, Railway Touring Company must have been relieved to find that 6233 DUCHESS OF SUTHERLAND was available for “The Mancunian” on Saturday 26th March just one week later. With two steam hauled trains passing quite close to home it was possible to photograph them both as well as fulfil some family business in the afternoon. The location I found for “The Mancunian” was far from ideal but I saw the train and obtained the record which was the most I could expect in the time I had available. It’s always difficult when running under the wires.
