Unfortunately the GCR Autumn Diesel Gala had to be cancelled in 2022. This was not due to Covid-19, the weather, climate change, energy crisis or any other recent fashionable doom scenario but a shortage of operational locomotives; both locally sourced or potential guests. The timetable was set around a pair of English Electric Class 37s and two Sulzer engine locomotives; a Type 2 Class 25 and a Type 4 Class 45, well supported by a single unit Derby Lightweight DMBS hired from the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway. The timetable featured three trains per hour in both directions so there was never long to wait to see a train pass by. And effective time was kept throughout the day.
