Saphos Trains promoted a Leicester to Holyhead and return "North Wales Coast Express" on Saturday 1st February 2020. The train suffered several 'issues' that were essentially not the fault of the steam locomotive except possibly the excessive speed on the Chester to Llandudno Junction stage that culminated in a 14 minute early arrival at the water stop. The real problems were all due to Network Rail's failure to maintain and service the facing point giving access to the triangle at Valley. Service trains were seriously delayed or cancelled and the excursion had to return diesel hauled as it proved impossible to turn the steam locomotive which was forced to return late in the evening, running tender first, engine and support coach, at 45 mph maximum speed. The compensation claims will run for months if not years!
