I fully expected "The North Wales Coast Express" on Friday 8th November 2019 to be hauled by 45690 LEANDER as that was the motive power listed on the railtourinfo.co.uk website. To my surprise, but not that of anyone else I spoke to, the train was hauled from Crewe to Holyhead and return by 60103 FLYING SCOTSMAN. I might not have gone if I had known in advance. The outward run was to time except for the final few miles but the arrangements for turning and servicing went completely astray and the return run was entirely after dark.
