Sunday 30th June 2024 was the date for the second of what may be described as the long distance Shakespeare Express’s. This was the Worcester to Stratford and return train with a middle of the day return trip back to Birmingham. The locomotive was not announced to the public beforehand but turned out, reasonably predictably, to be BR(WR) double chimney fitted Castle Class 4-6-0 5043 EARL OF MOUNT EDGCUMBE. The train ran reasonably to time on all journeys and, as expected, the turn out was excellent. Weather was mostly cloudy but there was very little rain. All together it was an enjoyable day out that provided an opportunity to visit some locations that I haven’t been used for several years.
