My first railway photographs in New Year 2025 were, as has so often been the case in the past, taken at the Great Central Railway. Based on weather forecasts and published time-tables I chose to visit on Saturday 4th January when the service was expected to feature Standard Class 2 2-6-0 78018 and the blue Metro-Cammell DMU on passenger trains. What I didn’t expect was a series of diesel driver reassessments with ‘Peak’ D123 and a totally unexpected run with D6700. Conditions remained cold, dry and clear throughout.
