The weekend public timetable for Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th October 2025 featured three small steam locomotives. It was an unexpected opportunity to obtain more photographs of LNWR Webb ‘coal tank’ 1054 as well as 68067 and 78018 from the home fleet. With two locomotives facing north it seemed sensible to vary the standard locations. Unfortunately, the fencing at Woodthorpe Lane has increased, making access now very difficult. I managed but being alone helped because I couldn’t get in anyone’s way or vice versa. Unannounced, there was a complete train, top and tailed by the two Class 27 diesel electrics that are currently based at the GCR, running backwards and forwards between Loughborough and Rothley. Very nice, kept me busy and meant I took far more photographs than I had intended.
