"The North Wales Coast Express" on Saturday 14th April 2018 was the first steam hauled railtour when Saphos Trains carried fare paying passengers. The train was hauled in both directions by Royal Scot Class 7P 4-6-0 46100 ROYAL SCOT. Support was available when required from Brush Type 4 diesel electric D1994. It was a successful trip overall but delays arose particularly on the return trip. Officially these are described as due to problems taking water and a track circuit failure but from an observers point of view they were largely due to very poor operating when the either train or locomotive were not allowed to move for fear of delaying other services.
