Sunday 9th July 2017 was special only in that the railway was visited by a collection of Mark IV Ford Zephyr and Zodiac cars. The railway was operating the normal summer timetable with 777 SIR LAMIEL, 8F 48624 and Bo-Bo D5185. The morning service ran well but delays began to mount after a few line-side fires which culminated in diesel haulage of the final departure from Loughborough.
