"The Scarborough Flyer" on 24th June 2017 was an unusual working in that it was steam hauled only in the up direction with an early departure from the coastal resort. Motive power could not have been more appropriate as it was a regular turn for a Kings Cross A3 in the fifties and very early sixties. It was allocated a route that avoided most of the East Coast main-line until Peterborough where it joined a procession of trains delayed by an electric locomotive failure. My photographic locations were Colton South, Burton Salmon, Saxilby and Holme Crossing.
