"The Cathedrals Express" on Tuesday 13th June 2017 was, to all intents and purposes, a positioning special to return the locomotive to the north following a series of excursions in southern England. The train ran out from Victoria through west London to access the Great Western route to Leamington Spa. I managed to avoid the electrification masts by choosing Appleford and Banbury for photographs. The single line route from Milverton Jn. to Coventry and then on to Nuneaton failed to yield a shot due to the train missing a pathing stop but I reached Wardle on the Chester line north-west of Crewe in time for my final shot.
