The Goods Galore Gala on the GCR provided an opportunity to view a range of motive power working a different types of train with a very busy time-table. From an operational point of view double headers might have been essential to position locomotives and stock but they do nothing to reflect railway practice of more than fifty years ago. The slipage in the times was a shame but let nothing take away from the railway the supreme spectacle of so many trains passing by on double track.
