By the time the calendar reached Saturday 24th September 2022 it had been almost three weeks since I had photographed a train of any kind. There was no particular reason behind this; just a combination of poor weather, rail strikes, uncertainty about motive power and some timing issues. Ultimately it was to the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire that I turned as most of their services were scheduled to be hauled by Great Western origin steam locomotives. Even the diesel locomotive that turned out at the end of the day contrasted well with the steam locomotives. The size of the ex-SR bogie brake van standing in the siding at Toddington was just too massive to ignore.
