Based on weather forecasts earlier in the week I expected fine and dry conditions on the GCR on Sunday 8th August 2021. It was so wet and dull when I had breakfast I decided to abandon the early trains and see how the conditions developed. By 11:00 things were better so I headed for Birstall.
