I made another brief visit to the GWSR on Saturday 6th April 2024 while my main line rail-tour was being turned and serviced in Gloucester. I had studied the GWSR timetable and locomotive roster which suggested times should be favourable to photograph south facing 35006 and north facing 7903. GWSR time keeping has never been a strong point but all seemed as though my plans would work out correctly until fairly late in the day when I discovered that 7903 had been replaced by south facing 7820. The only shots I could get of 7820 would be tender first unless they were very kind and ran 7820 round at Broadway and allowed it to pilot the diesel back to Toddington. No such luck of course and I had to rearrange my plans for the main line excursion.
