"The Cathedrals Express" on Friday 9th June 2017 promised a long day out as "Flying Scotsman" took two circular tours around the home counties. The climb to Saunderton is much more overgrown than I remember from earlier times but the line on from Princes Risborough looks much better than in former years. And, of course, Culham is a Brunel relic that forms an ideal backdrop even for an ex-LNER locomotive. By the time the evening run reached Lyne Lane the light was failing and I judged it better to return home rather than explore Mayford and Gomshall in the dark!
