Saturday 15th March 2025 provided the opportunity to photograph Stanier Class 5 4-6-0 45212 when it worked ‘The Cheshireman’ railtour from London Euston to Chester for The Railway Touring Company. Timings were quite favourable and I contemplated three locations on the down run and two on the return. It didn’t quite work out as traffic delays between locations one and two meant that, as I approached M6 Jn.14, I saw the steam from the locomotive as it headed north from Stafford. No pressure, just a more relaxed drive to location three at Wardle. Effectively the train ran to time all day; just seven minutes late approaching Atherstone on the return to Rugby.
